Jamat-e-Islami, SDPI help RSS in their murder politics, says Thomas Isaac

After a branch secretary of CPIM was murdered in Thrissur, senior party leader and Kerala finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac commented that RSS was receiving help from organizations such Jamat-e-Islami and SDPI to kill CPIM workers. The organizations were helping RSS in its bid to murder young men who were trying to promote fraternity and compassion, he said in a note. After his comment, Jamat-e-Islami sent a legal notice to Dr Isaac on the grounds that the comments were politically motivated and would serve to spread more Islamophobia in the society.

CPIM’s Kerala state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan commented that Congress has compromised on its secular ideals for the sake of Muslim League and transformed into a ‘Hassan-Kunjalikkutty-Amir’ coalition. He added the Muslim League was being led by the ideologies of Jamat-e-Islami and that this influence of League will facilitate the entrance of RSS.

Those opposing EWS reservation are religious fundamentalists, says LDF convener

Organizations such as the Muslim League, which had been criticizing the decision to grant reservation for Economically Weaker Sections, are “religious fundamentalists”, said A Vijayaraghavan, the convener of Left Democratic Front in Kerala. The League is trying to unite forces on the basis of religion. It is also trying to add Jamat-e-Islami, which “promotes fundamentalism under the guise of human rights” to the UDF, he said.

“Minority communalism” is the worst form of communalism, says LDF convener

A Vijayaraghavan, convener of Left Democratic Front in Kerala, said that “minority communalism” was the worst form of communalism. “Can one form of communalism be used to counter another form of communalism? Can minority communalism be raised to combat majority communalism? Wouldn’t that justify the acts of majority communalism? Isn’t minority communalism the worst form of communalism? Shouldn’t we stand together to beat them both?” Vijayaraghavan asked. After the statement created a controversy, Vijayaraghavan clarified that he had not said that minority communalism is more dangerous. Both forms of communalism need to be resisted, he said.

Jamat-e-Islami, Popular Front trying to problematize CPIM-RSS talks, says P Jayarajan

After Yoga master Sri M revealed that CPIM and RSS had held talks under his mediation, CPIM leader P Jayarajan commented that the talks had only been an effort to decrease violence and that organizations such as Jamat-e-Islami and Popular Front were trying to create a controversy. Senior CPIM leader Govindan Master had denied that any such meeting had taken place. Jayarajan’s post, however, suggests the contrary.

RSS and extreme Salafis happy about temple board, says CPIM leader

A temple board in Kannur banning the entry of Muslims, which had created a storm on social media after its pictures went viral, was making RSS and ‘extreme Salafis’ among Muslims happy, said CPIM leader P Jayarajan. The board was put up by a temple committee that has a large number of CPIM supporters. Despite this, and the fact that the targeted community was Muslims, Mr Jayarajan’s “clarification” dragged Muslims into the picture.

LDF convener equates Muslim League leader to ‘fundamentalist’ Dr Zakir Naik

After Kerala Muslim League leader Panakkad Sadique Ali Thangal wrote an article supporting the conversion of Haga Sofia in Turkey into a mosque, LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan equated him to the controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik. Vijayaraghavan called Dr Naik a symbol of Islamic fundamentalism and pointed this out as “proof” that Muslim League was moving towards a more fundamentalist attitude.

College student murdered by “Islamic Fundamentalists”, says minister

After Abhimanyu, a student of Maharaja’s College in Kerala, was murdered allegedly by members of SDPI, minister Kadakampalli Surendran put up a Facebook post bemoaning his death. In the post, he alleged that Abhimanyu had been eliminated by “Islamic Fundamentalists”. His statements stirred a controversy, with many objecting to the use of “Islamic Fundamentalism” instead of SDPI.
