Cochin constituency chairman of UDF resigns after anti-Muslim comment gets out

Augusty Cyril, the chairman of the United Democratic Front for the Cochin constituency, resigned his position after his comments about letting in Muslims into the administration of Cochin College became public. In a telephone conversation, Cyril allegedly remarked, “How can we let these kaakkamaar (a derogatory term for Muslims) in”. After the conversation leaked into the social media sphere, there had been widespread criticism against Cyril and he later resigned.
